Monasteriako Giannoudi is a former monastery near Rethymno, managed by Syl, a Dutch woman who knows what guests need. The apartments are spacious, there's a shared pool, and the breakfast is excellent. Dinner is served on request, vegetarian and fresh. The location is great: Rethymno is within walking distance, and the area offers enough for several days. Prices around 100 euros per night. For a night out: Ba Raki in Rethymno for the atmosphere and food, or visit Klapstoel Taverna on the beach, a family restaurant where the mother cooks and the sons serve. Delicious fresh fish.
Kapsaliana Village Resort: A Former Village Transformed into a Luxury Hotel
Kapsaliana Village Resort is a labor of love. An architect bought an abandoned village near Rethymno and restored it stone by stone into a hotel with spacious, luxurious rooms and beautiful spots scattered across the grounds. The food is good, the location is excellent. From here, visit the Monastery of Arkadi, one of the most beautiful places in Crete, and the pottery village of Margarites. Or embark on a sunset 4x4 safari. For dinner, try Akrogiali Tavern on the beach, affordable Greek food with a sunset view. Hotel prices are around 280 euros per night in July.

Casa Delfino is located in the old Venetian city of Chania and has been run by the same family for six generations. The property is beautiful, the rooms spacious, and the location allows you to do everything on foot. Chania offers plenty: boat trips, beaches, charming streets, and shops. For dining: Pallas restaurant for the view, Chrisostomos for local Greek cuisine, or Salis for a culinary evening with a great wine list. Elounda Infinity Resort (adults only) is located in the bay of Elounda in Eastern Crete, popular with couples and babymooners. Beautiful pool, tranquility, and an area perfect for relaxation.
